Please save the date for Green Mountain Conservation Groups 22nd Annual Meeting featuring keynote speaker David Carroll, renowned artist, writer, turtle biologist, and recipient of the MacArthur Fellowship "Genius Grant" on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at The Preserve in Chocorua, NH. This year's meeting will be an afternoon event with the public business meeting starting at 12:30 p.m. followed by a celebration from 1 to 4. Enjoy a lunch buffet, silent auction, raffle, awards, speeches by GMCG staff members, and a year-ahead address from new Executive Director Matt Howe. The afternoon will culminate with David Carrolls presentation titled Beyond Conservation. The snow date is Sunday, March 15, same time and place. As the year ends and a new decade approaches, the GMCG Board of Directors and staff reach out with gratitude for all the support shown by the community, volunteers, businesses, and fellow organizations. 2019 was a very full year: GMCG staff continued to expand core programs including water quality monitoring for cyanobacteria and E. coli in local lakes; place-based environmental education programs at the conservation center for all ages (preschool through adult); and expanding water literacy programs in local schools and public libraries. Advocacy initiatives included implementation of Best Management Practices to reduce runoff of storm water pollution into Ossipee Lake. GMCG entered a wonderful new partnership with Lakes Region Conservation Corps to host AmeriCorps volunteers through 2021. The annual meeting is a time for the organizations volunteers, committees, supporters, and friends to celebrate their shared accomplishments in natural resource protection, and look ahead to continue GMCGs mission of Research, Education, Advocacy, and Land Trust.
